Full-time | One-year fixed-term contract | Henley-on-Thames
£35,000–£40,000, depending on experience | Ideally starting January 2027
Love characterful interiors and seeing a project come to life?
Join Brakspear’s friendly in-house design team, helping create beautiful pubs, restaurants and inns.
Our estate includes country pubs, historic coaching inns and boutique bedrooms, including our Honeycomb Houses collection.
Each building is different, and so is each project. You’ll work on interiors full of character, from welcoming bars and dining spaces to thoughtfully detailed bedrooms, helping develop agreed designs through to installation and the finishing touches.
What you’ll do
Working closely with our Head of Design, you’ll:
- Develop layouts, finishes and specifications from agreed designs.
- Produce detailed interior drawings, furniture and lighting plans, and bespoke joinery details.
- Source furniture, fabrics, finishes, lighting and accessories that suit the brief and budget.
- Prepare clear drawing packages and schedules for suppliers and contractors.
- Prepare and track budgets, finding suitable alternatives where needed.
- Attend site meetings and help resolve design and technical queries.
- Coordinate suppliers, deliveries and on-site installations.
- Get hands-on with installation, dressing and styling, ready for handover.
- Build good relationships with pub operators, contractors and suppliers.
What you’ll bring
You’ll ideally have three or more years’ interior design experience, preferably including pubs, restaurants, hotels or inns.
We’re interested in your eye for materials and detail, your technical ability and your confidence turning designs into finished spaces.
We’re looking for:
- Proficiency in Vectorworks.
- Good technical drawing skills, ideally including bespoke joinery.
- Experience sourcing and specifying furniture, lighting, fabrics and finishes.
- An organised approach, with the ability to manage your workload across several projects.
- Clear communication and confidence working with contractors and suppliers.
- A practical attitude, willingness to get involved and enjoyment of working as part of a team.
- We’re a small team, so you’ll need to enjoy rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in — especially on site during installations.
Experience of on-site delivery, hospitality operations, listed buildings or hotel bedrooms and bathrooms would be particularly useful, alongside an understanding of relevant building regulations and accessibility requirements.
